Faithless Part 1

Well, the first ten pages of "Faithless" are finito and away to be lettered and all is well in the republic of Babygorilla. As this is my first foray (first time I've used that word!) into some serious sequential drawing I was extremely conscious of  the deadline but I managed to hand the work in before the panic button was hit, thus ensued huge waves of relief.

I've included a few pages here to give a wee taster, not too much though, I wouldn't want to ruin it for you, the potential reader.

Major props to Dominik Diamond, the writer behind Faithless and John Paul Fitch, Editor of Flux UK, the new mag it will be featured in. As with any fledgling comic, Flux UK needs the support of as many comic readers and shops as possible so please pick it up when you see it. The mag is forty two pages, black and white with four ten page stories, some are one offs, others, like Faithless will be continued.

 Cheers, Davie.

How Xarg Got His Groove Back

I've always been an avid comic reader but I've only dabbled in drawing comic pages a couple of times as Illustration has felt like more my thing. I was contacted by a writer, John Paul Fitch, to work on a five page submission for the new comics/movies/pop culture Magazine, CLiNT.
I was impressed with the way John Paul had created a weird, funny and well rounded story with only five pages to work with.
If your not used to drawing comics it can feel like pretty awkward at the start when your used to having a whole page to layout your Illustration as opposed to fitting everything into wee boxes. Saying that, it was a great experience doing this. Doing all the art chores myself (penciling, inking, colouring and lettering) really made me feel that the end product would be fluid with my style.

Hope you enjoy it. Cheers.

Heroes for Hire

Power Man and Iron Fist are the ultimate 70's Marvel Icons. Marvel should make a Heroes for Hire movie set in the seventies. Enter the Dragon, Shaft and The French Connection = Life on Mars with Superheros. just an idea. Loved working on this.

Old Man Logan 2

The highly anticipated " Old Man Logan part 2" by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven is coming soon. Here's my tribute. Baby Hulk is a wee bit older and Logan seems to have taken up with a mysterious, strung-out chick but thats just my artistic licence. The real thing will be much cooler. Looking forward to it.

Scalped

Scalped is comic published by Vertigo, written by Jason Aaeron with art by R. M. Guéra. The story revolves around a group of characters on a modern day Native American reservation. Its a mixture of The Sopranos, Donnie Brasco and Shakespearean tragedy.

This is a Mock Cover featuring the main character Dashiell Badhorse.

The Sick Bed of Cú Chulainn

Here's my process or method or whatever you want to call it. First (obviously) the line-art.
Next, some flat colours, patterns and shadows.

A wee bit of T.L.C and that's it done. Look up the legend ofCú Chulainn, its pretty cool.

Jock and the Beanstalk

Jack and the beanstalk gets an aggressive Scottish twist.

"Duality"

This is an illustration I recently completed for a new book of short stories titled "Duality".
